Our manifesto

Some people want to travel alone. Some people want to travel with someone.

And then there are those of us who want to a little bit of both.

Sharing a meal. Laughing on a car ride. Having someone to talk to about what you just saw. And being able to say, without giving explanations: "Today I'm staying at the beach."

Straightforward

Small-group trips that work differently.

If you've ever been on a rushed, organized tour with flags and 50-seater buses, you know exactly what we're talking about. That doesn't happen on small group trips.

Small group of travelers sharing a bus journey On the way

It's not a 50-person trip with a little flag.

From 6 to 13 passengers. We all know each other. There are no strangers at the back of the bus.

It's not a tour of "if it's Tuesday, Belgium".

No sprints or monument lists. Each day has room to breathe.

It's not about being stuck together all day.

If one day you want to be on the beach while everyone else goes up to the temple, you can stay. We'll accompany you, we won't force you.

It's not a group to which you are assigned.

We'll talk to you before confirming your spot. So you'll know before you fly too.

How we work

What it means when we say it.

"Small group trips" is what everyone says. This is what's behind it when we say it.

Thirteen fit in the same table.

From 6 to 13 travelers, plus one of us as a guide from Spain. No exceptions. Small enough for dinner to be a conversation. Big enough so there's always someone to share the day with.

Minimum 6 · Maximum 13

We talk to you first.

Before confirming your spot, we'll have a video call. You tell us what you're looking for and how you usually travel. We'll tell you what our trips are really like.

The screening

We choose the group.

This is the question we get asked most often at the beginning: "What's this about you talking to me first?"

A group that works well transforms the trip. One that doesn't, ruins it — and on a trip together, that's noticeable from day one.

So before confirming your spot, we'll have a video call. A little time to chat. You tell us what you're looking for, how you usually travel, what you'd like to do and what you'd rather not. Not to decide if you are "fit" for SunZen. We just want to get to know you, because you're going to spend two weeks traveling with these people.

It's not an interview.
It's a conversation.

We'd rather lose a booking than make someone have an uncomfortable two weeks.

Travelers waiting together at the airport before departing on a trip
If you are traveling alone

The first day is a little difficult. After that, usually, not anymore.

Many people arrive alone. It's quite common in a small group. And we understand the feeling of being overwhelmed: you arrive at the airport and you don't know anyone yet.

A meal together A beer A conversation while waiting to board "Have you seen that too?"

And suddenly they are no longer strangers.
That is, probably, the best thing about traveling like this.

When something goes wrong

Taking care of a trip is also being there when it matters most.

A flight is delayed
A suitcase goes missing
Someone is feeling unwell
A transfer gets complicated

It's part of traveling. What makes it different is not having to deal with it alone. That's why one of us is there—not a customer service line you'll never get through to twice, but someone who's traveling with you and whom you already know.

Being well taken care of
shouldn't be a privilege.

For us, it's simply about doing our job well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some doubts that maybe you have.

Rakel, co-founder of SunZen Travel, laughing during a small group trip
Can I travel alone?

Yes, and that's very common. Many people arrive alone on small group trips—we experienced this firsthand before creating SunZen, which is why the pre-trip screening is so important. Regarding accommodations: it depends on each trip, and you'll see the details on the destination page.

What if the group isn't what I expected?

We do the pre-filtering precisely to prevent that from happening. But if you feel the pace isn't right for you when you arrive, we'll adjust: a day off, a room change, a frank conversation. You won't have to deal with the problem alone.

How much do I have to pay to book?

€300 deposit To reserve your spot. If the departure doesn't reach the minimum of 6 people, we'll refund the full amount. If you cancel, the terms and conditions you receive in writing before paying anything apply.

What if something unexpected happens and I have to cancel?

We have clear terms and conditions that we send you before confirming anything. For major unforeseen events—illness, border closures, family emergencies—we prioritize human interaction over the letter of the contract.

Can I go with my partner, friend or family member?

Sure. We'd do the initial screening with both people at the same time. Just remember that everyone has to want this trip for their own reasons — nobody travels well being dragged.

When is the departure definitively confirmed?

When we reach 6 travelers. From that point on, the departure is confirmed and we will confirm it to you in writing.
